It takes confidence, hard work and being a team player to top in any competition. Once i hear the word queen uttered, the first thing that crosses my mind is the quote by Steve Maraboli that says,

There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.

Today’s Fab Spotlight is a recap of an interview that was originally published in the premiere issue of the PlusFab Magazine which can be accessed here.

What does the term ‘Plus Size’ mean to you?

Plus size to me means plus in body, plus intellectually ,plus in beauty, plus in kindness and plus in heart.

How did you kick start your modeling career and how do you juggle modelling, family and school?

I started modelling in 2014.I picked interest out of encouragement from friends and close family.I researched about it and learnt that it was worthwhile not to mention the many benefits.I didn’t know how to walk in heels leave alone doing the catwalk but through thorough training i am able to walk the runway in prowess.

What are you top three body affirmations?

My worth is not defined by my weight.I define my worth and i am worthy.

I am fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God.

My body is a temple of Christ,I treat it with lots of love and respect.

You won the Miss Plus Kenya 2015 Queen, what do you plan to do with the title?

Firstly i want to use the opportunity to advocate against rape with all stakeholders in N.G.Os public and private sectors.

Secondly I intend to use this platform to create more awareness about the plus size modelling industry and to influence the society to the appreciation that being big is beautiful and not a disability.

Thirdly,I would like to use this dispensation to encourage and empower the youth to full liberty economically, socially and politically.

What are your views on the fashion industry and plus size women?

Plus size fashion is yet to  be fully exploited in Kenya and so it is a field of opportunities for the upcoming entrepreneurs in the fashion industry. Plus size women  too would find the opportunity to liberate themselves from the stigma associated with their body sizes.

What are your current reads?

The bible being my all time favorite.

The power of positive thinking by by Norman Vincent Peale

Power of a praying woman.by Stormie Omartian
