What inspired you to get into modeling?

I am in a journey of self discovery; reconnecting with my individuality. Modeling was one way to rediscover me and fall in love with every part of me.

Was modeling part of your dream growing up?

Yes.  I had always dreamed of walking a runway with all I’ve got. Miss Tourism used to be my preference but life happened and my dream was forgotten. But here I am and I have the chance to walk the runway again.

What are your thoughts on plus size modeling industry in Kenya?

The industry is fairly new and people may receive it with a pinch of salt. There will be different opinions about plus size modeling but at the end of the day, the Industry will have offered a woman the chance to flaunt (with or without flaws) and regain her identity as a beautiful human being.

What according to you do you think is the biggest misconception about plus size models?

The models are referred to as “fat”.  A misconception that is very wrong because being curvy does not necessarily mean you’re fat. This industry will hopefully revolutionize this misconception and set the right ideas.

????????????????????????????????????

How has modeling shaped your self-image?

I couldn’t walk in heels higher than an inch, I forgot who I was and got so wrapped up with what life threw at me. Modeling has been part of my journey; regaining my individuality. Realizing that you can achieve what you put your mind to achieve.

As a model, will you support your gorgeous girls to follow your footsteps? What is the one thing that you want your kids to take from you as plus size model?

By all means possible.  Self love, the most liberating feeling you can have. Loving yourself on the sunny and not so sunny days. I want them to fully love themselves and not depend on what society deems as the perfect body.

Have you ever felt that certain beauty standards were inaccessible to you as a plus-size woman?

For a very long time, small bodied models have been the preference in the industry. This greatly determines the agencies that can sign you up and actually get you jobs.

“Self love, the most liberating feeling you can have.

Loving yourself on the sunny and not so sunny days.

I want them to fully love themselves and not depend on

what society deems as the perfect body.”

What is the most challenging aspect of modeling as a profession?

Gaining entry into the market and making a renowned brand.

With regard to highlighting body positivity in individuality – did you always feel so comfortable with yourself and your body?

I have been curvy most of my life and had to learn how to be comfortable in my own skin. I learned at a very early age to dress my body, not just following the fashion trends. With time, you create your own sense of style and rock it.

What are your positive affirmations that give you the oomph and confidence?

Psalms 139:13-14 “For You formed my inward parts; you wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.

How would you define your personal style? What do you feel most beautiful wearing?

My style is chic and modern without being overdone. I absolutely love wearing dresses.
