perfect, plus size and you

You will never be perfect. No one is ever perfect.

You may argue otherwise but i opine that nobody has ever attained full perfection. They might have been close to it, but not to its fullest realm. Perfection is relative; what is perfect to me may not be perfect to you and vice-versa.

That leads me to question, why then are we so obsessed with being perfect? Why not create your own version of perfect?

When you look at people who suffer from low self esteem you realise that they look up to somebody whom they consider to be “perfect”. I’m not condemning having role model. what i’m against is loving another person so much that you desire their “perfect life” “perfect marriage” “perfect kids” “perfect lifestyle” etc.

What you don’t know is what that person has had to go through to get to where they are.

Friends, being plus size, and any other size, is a journey; and here’s why.

If you are anything like me, i’m sure you have had high moments and low moments in almost every sphere of your life. For me, i think i have been through it all: friends, boyfriends, school, family, finances, business. And still i have never in a moment felt perfect. What i have been all this time is human.

I realised a long time ago, perfection is a disease that leads to more conflict and grudges. This is because people can’t seem to have a middle ground on what’s perfect because the question, “Perfect for who?” will always arise.

Beyoncé said it, perfection is a disease of a nation, it’s the soul that needs a surgery. It’s okay to be a work-in-progress. We all are.

Go through your thoughts, go deep and search your soul and find out who you truly are and what you are meant to do on earth. Do not be thrilled to copy someone else. Do not feel pressured to measure up to anyone else. Ask yourself this question, “Who am I?

If you’re suffering from low self esteem, i’ll tell this, until you find out what’s eating into you, you’ll never get out of it. Find that one thing or the many things that oppress you, write them down and begin to work on them day by day. I have made a couple of posts ( DUFF & Unapologetically Me) to help you with this. And I will keep writing about this. So remember to subscribe to be up to date with my blog series.

It’s a journey, so take the walk. Remember, if it was easy, everybody would do it.

Xo,

-Fran-
