On our last Modeling Hack, we discussed how to begin as a model. We emphasized on being ready to present yourself fully, being open minded, taking Polaroids, confidence, confidence… Today we gear into knowing how to brand yourself as a model in the big mass of the fashion industry.

Branding yourself as a model.

First things first…

  1. Confidence – One can never stress this enough. Confidence is your armor in the modeling industry. You face rejection in the process. To build up your confidence, you need a good support system, family and friends who still give you a pat in the back whatever the outcome.
  2. Always do your homework – Be in the know of the agency and how they operate, their specifications, top photographers you wish to work with, editors of famous publications, designers, other agencies… the list is endless. Feed your mind constantly on what’s new and what is happening in the fashion industry. Nothing feels good as pleasing the modeling agent at first impression.
  3. Seek the right agency – to brand yourself as a model, you need the right agency to represent you. Again, do your research well.
  4. Your image – Present-ability, confidence, your health, discipline… are among the top key things one can identify about you even before you speak. More to that, how to do you carry yourself in the social platforms? Are you consistent? Do you speak/ highlight issues that are worthwhile? What is your circle? Also being a model… do you relate or follow model or fashion platforms that help you grow? Do you take it upon yourself to update your portfolio?
  5. Time keeping – A serious model is never late to show up for an appointment.
